Handy Jack Story

The Story of Handy Jack

Handy Jack is a name that is very familiar in Cheshire. It originated in the 1980's from the Rowlinson Timber Group when they decided to move into the retail sector with a DIY Superstore, 'Handy Jack DIY'.  Brian Watkiss became the General manager of two stores, one based in Willaston, Crewe and the other in Northwich.  Over time Rowlinsons plans changed and the Northwich store was sold in 1996 to a management buyout of three people - Brian Watkiss, Bill Jones and Steve Rigby.  They ran the business until 2002 when they sold the store to Matalan who are still there today.

James, conscious of his Dad's good name in Northwich, started a man and van business in 2011 and called it 'Handy Jack Man & Van'.  He used the logo of 'Jack' which is familiar to many people in the area.  With the help of his friend and family the business grew to what is now known as, 'Handy Jack Transport'.  James is a firm believer in family values as is shown with his Sons, Daughter and best friend working within the business.

As the business has grown, the team has grown with it.  It goes without saying that everyone working within Handy Jack Transport makes it what it is today.  Providing transport services for large market leading companies, as well as working with small to medium sized independents to deliver a service second to none.  The different areas of the business include, but are not limited to:- working with the general public doing house removals and single item deliveries and collections.  A nationwide service that predominantly delivers furniture and appliances all over the UK.  Whilst also providing two person teams on a daily basis for commercial outlets.

James' father, Brian, would be proud of how James has evolved Handy Jack to what it is today!
